Morocco weather

The weather in Morocco varies across regions. The summers are generally very hot and dry but the mountains remain cool and pleasant. The months of October, November, April and May are monsoon months. Make sure to carry raincoats or umbrellas during the monsoons whether you are travelling in the mountains or along the coast. Moderately heavy warm clothing is recommended for winter while linen and lightweight cottons are preferable during summer.

Coastal Morocco has a balmy Mediterranean climate. The east coast is cooled down by the southwest trade winds while the west coast has temperatures between 62˚Fahrenheit and 73˚ Fahrenheit (16˚Celsius - 23˚Celsius). The interior areas have a drier, hotter and continental climate with temperatures ranging between 50˚Fahrenheit and 81˚Fahrenheit (10˚Celsius - 27˚Celsius).

The eastern slopes of the Atlas Mountains have a harsh pre-Saharan climate as they deflect the moisture-rich Atlantic winds. The western slopes on the other hand are cooler and receive adequate rainfall.

Southern Morocco has a very hot and dry climate throughout the year. However, temperatures tend to dip sharply at night, especially between December and January. Agadir and Morocco enjoy a pleasant 70˚ Fahrenheit (21˚ Celsius) even in winter.
